Q&A: What is the difference between film and video?

Question by cunninglinguist11111: What is the difference between film and video?
I can tell when I'm watching a film (motion picture at the movies or on television) and it is different that watching something that has been videotaped with a camcorder, but I can't describe the difference in what I'm seeing very well. Can anyone explain what the difference?

A film can have both video and audio tracks.
A simple video does not have audio capabilities.
Lately, all films, DVD, and any other type of visual communication has been typed as video.
